Danville – Former Brownsburg daycare employee Jennyfer Lingbeck was sentenced Thursday after pleading guilty to Failure to Report (Class B misdemeanor) and Neglect of a Dependent (Level 6 felony).

The Hendricks County court sentenced Lingbeck to 180 days in the Hendricks County Jail, followed by 365 days of home detention and probation.

During sentencing, Lingbeck argued she had been manipulated by the daycare owner. However, Hendricks County Prosecutor Loren Delp stated that every daycare employee has an independent legal and moral obligation to report suspected child abuse or neglect.

The court cited several aggravating factors, including Lingbeck’s position of trust and responsibility over vulnerable children. The court also noted mitigating circumstances, including her likelihood of responding positively to probation and that the offenses are unlikely to recur.

“This case is about accountability,” Delp said, emphasizing that Indiana’s mandatory reporting laws exist to protect children and that failing to act can leave children at risk.
