BCSC: Quarantine Update, Week 5

The latest update on COVID cases and quarantines

Good evening BCSC families,

On September 1, Governor Holcomb issued Executive Order 21-24 stating that in schools where masks are consistently worn throughout the day, students do not have quarantine due to close contact. This is excellent news and will dramatically reduce the number of students who miss school due to a quarantine. (Students who are exposed at lunch when masks are not worn, still must quarantine.) In the past three weeks, the number of students quarantined has dropped from 791 to 528, with 260 students quarantined during week 5. Additionally, the number of positive COVID cases dropped from 73 last week to 59 this week—the lowest number of positive cases since August 13. The mask requirement went into effect on August 18.

Sincerely,

Jim Snapp

Superintendent
