Carter Sayman Selected as Junior Grand Marshal

Carter Sayman, a fourth-grader at White Lick Elementary and a member of Cub Scout Pack 398, has been selected as the Junior Grand Marshal for the Town of Brownsburg’s Christmas Under the Stars parade. Sayman will ride on the Brownsburg Parks float and flip the switch to light up the town’s Christmas tree and the decorations on Town Hall on Sat., Dec. 1. The parade kicks off at 6 p.m.

The parade route travels way west on Tilden Drive before turning south onto Locust Lane and ending at Williams Park. More than 35 units will participate, ranging from dance school teams to brightly lighted trucks featuring carolers. As always, the last unit in the parade will feature Santa and Mrs. Claus!

Approximately 30 minutes after the parade ends, Santa and Mrs. Claus will arrive at Town Hall for photos. Once Santa arrives, guests will be treated to carols sung by Brownsburg High School’s Starlight Voices choir. Then it’s time for Carter to flip the switch!

This year, Brownsburg Parks moved from an ornament decorating contest to a criteria-based application process to select the Junior Grand Marshal. Carter was nominated by Cub Scout Pack 398 for his multiple volunteer efforts. He raked leaves for elderly Brownsburg homeowners while working with the Brownsburg Older Adult Alliance (BOAA), and he helped out at Gleaners Food Bank of Indiana Inc. He also lent a hand with yard work at Messiah Lutheran Church, picked up trash while hiking along Indiana trails, volunteered with Bolt Family Dental at community events, and assisted at soccer practice for a team comprised of local children with disabilities. — Brownsburg Parks Press Release
