Two days after the incident, Brownsburg Police reported a 20 year old suspect as been arrested, taken into custody and the 18 year old victim is in “critical but stable condition”. There is no ongoing threat to the community.
Brownsburg April, 8th 2025
On April 7th, 2025, at approximately 5:06 AM, Brownsburg Police Officers responded to Hendricks Regional Hospital in Brownsburg, (located at 5492 N. Ronald Reagan Parkway) for a person stabbed. Upon arrival, Officers were able to determine that a male subject was stabbed by a roommate at his home in the 300 block of S. School Street.
During the early morning hours of April 7th, the victim, 18 year old Carlos Cortez Vasquez, and his roommate, 20 year old, Jose Guadalupe Mendoza Zezorita, got into an altercation that resulted in Cortez-Vasquez being stabbed multiple times, and ultimately transported to Methodist Hospital for surgery.
After an investigation, the suspect Jose Guadalupe Mendoza Zezorita was taken into custody without incident and booked into the Hendricks County Jail for Level 3 Aggravated Battery, and Level 5 Battery with a Deadly Weapon. Cortez-Vasquez remains in critical but stable condition.
