What: Following unanimous zoning approval from the Hendricks County Commissioners August 27th 2024; Brownsburg Youth Sports (BYS) returned to the Hendricks County Plan Commission Tuesday, Jan 14th, 2025 requesting approvals for their phase one design. The Hendricks County Plan Commission unanimously approved the plans as presented.
When: The project is estimated to take one year and its scheduled completion is by 3rd quarter of 2026.
At the recent Hendricks County Plan Commission Jeff Banning of Banning Engineering and Brownsburg Youth Sports (BYS) Vice President Geoff Ziegler presented their phase one plans for the site. Their plans depict four multi-purpose (baseball / softball) fields, a central two story concession building, dugouts, batting cages, shade areas, parking lots and pathways.
BYS representatives requested deferments of up to two years to pave the parking lot, construct the pathways around the diamonds and install of landscaping features. Jeff mentioned in the interim the gravel parking lot would be treated as needed to reduce dust. This temporary delay shifts an estimated $750,000 dollars of associated costs. The current design will take approximately 1 year to complete.
The deferment focuses resources to ensure construction is completed by the third quarter of 2026. This date meets deadlines established in a land swap agreement between Brownsburg Community School Corporation and Brownsburg Youth Sports. This agreement in part provided for lands for BYS current location in exchange for lands currently used by Brownsburg Girls Softball (those fields are immediately east of Brownsburg High School).
