Brownsburg Fire Territory Executive Board Meeting
Brownsburg resident Alexander Freeman was recognized at this evening’s Brownsburg Fire Territory meeting for acting quickly when on December 6th he spotted a fire in a neighbor’s garage, notified the homeowner, contacted 911, and used a fire extinguisher to suppress the fire until crews arrived.
His selfless, quick thinking actions clearly prevented any loss of life, and significantly reduced further damage to the property.
From BFT —
On December 6th at 10:59am: BFT crews were dispatched to the 6500 block of Kara lane on a report of a garage fire called in by a passerby. Alex was out for a jog and noticed flames on top of the freezer in a neighbors garage. He notified the homeowner, called 911 and used the fire extinguisher until crews arrived. If it had not been for Alex, this fire had the potential to spread causing extensive damage and danger to the family.
Today: Alex was recognized by Brownsburg Fire Chief Larry Alcorn and the Executive Board for his heroic efforts that did not place him in danger yet saved his neighbor from danger. Alex was accompanied by his wonderful parents, his sister and friends. We appreciate your efforts Alex and are certain that a career in the fire service would be a great fit for you! Outstanding job!
