Income tax filing deadline changed to July 15 from April 15

March 20th, 2020 – At the direction of President Trump, the U.S. Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin extended the tax filing date by three months. “All taxpayers and businesses will have this additional time to file and make payments without interest or penalties.” said in the tweet, shown below.  The new deadline applies only to Federal Income Tax filings.  State filing and payment deadlines vary and are not always the same as the federal filing deadline.
