About Rock Steady Boxing – BROWNSBURG:
Parkinson’s Disease is a degenerative neurological movement disorder which can cause deterioration of motor skills, balance, speech and sensory function. The Parkinson’s Disease Foundation estimates there are more than 1,000,000 people in the United States living with Parkinson’s Disease, and more than 60,000 new people are diagnosed each year. Recent studies, most notably at Cleveland Clinic, have focused on the concept of intense, “forced” exercise and have begun to suggest that certain kinds of exercise may be neuro-protective, actually slowing the disease progression.
Rock Steady Boxing of Brownsburg (RSBB) uses a non-contact, boxing-based fitness curriculum to help people fight back against Parkinson’s disease. Workouts incorporate rhythm, quick movements, gross and fine motor skills, and functional activities to improve a fighter’s quality of life and mobility.
RSBB is dedicated to bringing hope to those living with Parkinson’s in Hendricks and its surrounding counties. We are a non-profit 501c3 affiliate program based on the original Rock Steady Boxing in Indianapolis; the first gym in the country dedicated to the fight against Parkinson’s disease.
At RSB Brownsburg, Parkinson’s Disease is the opponent. We can only achieve our goal to serve this population with the assistance of generous donations from members of our community and are honored that Simpson Properties chose our organization as the inaugural beneficiary of their Community Day.
