Voting in the people that make a difference in your town!<\/strong>
\nWhat does this mean to Hendricks County registered voters?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Only the registered voters that live within Municipal <\/strong>Boundaries<\/b> of the Towns of
\nAvon, Brownsburg, Clayton, Danville, Pittsboro, & Plainfield; <\/strong>and voters <\/strong>that reside in the Danville Community School District <\/strong>will be having an elections TODAY, November 5th, 2019.<\/p>\n

(The Towns of Amo, Coatesville, Lizton and Stilesville do not have and contests, therefore will not have an election today.)<\/p>\n

The Brownsburg Sentinel extended a video interview invitation to both candidates seeking the office of Town Council Ward 3 in Brownsburg. This is the only contested race in Brownsburg. The results are detailed below.<\/p>\n

Brian Jessen (Incumbent Ward 3) on 10\/08\/2019 failed to notify this publication if he has chosen to accept or decline our video interview offer. <\/p>\n

09\/17 We notified both candidates via email
\n09\/17 Brian Jessen acknowledged receipt of the email 
\n09\/24 Brian Jessen was sent a reminder notice of our offer
\n09\/26 Brian Jessen spoke to me after Town Council
\n10\/07 Brian Jessen was sent a final reminder notice of our offer
\n          Brian and I held several exchanges in social media since our initial offer.
\n10\/09 Tentatively schedules meeting for 10\/11 at 2pm
\n10\/10 Speaks to me at the conclusion of Town Council
\n10\/11 At 12:30pm requests to reschedule meeting, fails to provide new date\/time.
\n10\/12 — No Further Communication from Brian. He silently declined our invitation.<\/p>\n

Brian remained active in social media, declined to answer many questions posed to him. <\/p>\n

We find his conduct regarding this matter confusing to say the least, as we received the following email from Brian, after we extended the same offer to all candidates during the primary election: 2019\/04\/29 — <\/p>\n

“Again, we can sit down.  But with Chris\/Jeff and the Matt\/Matt seats, I wanted to make sure they had ample opportunity.<\/span><\/h5>\n
Yes, it’s important for me to get my info on the record.  Just trying to be considerate of their contested<\/span> races.” — 04\/29\/2019 Brian Jessen<\/span><\/h5>\n<\/blockquote>\n

  It is duplicitous for someone who advocated transparency during his first election bid, continuing while in office, including desiring contested primary races were covered, and his most recent campaign bid. Why he has chosen not to participate to date?<\/p>\n

  We will update you the public, regarding Brian’s position should circumstances warrant. —The Editor<\/em><\/p>\n

Brian’s espoused fondness of transparency did not show itself, he did not accept this publication’s video interview.  What did repeatedly surface were his duplicitous actions where he questioned his challenger on her responses at every opportunity, while not extending the public the examination of his answers to the same questions.<\/p>\n

More recently<\/strong> — There are few times when politicians are pressured to act on behalf of the public they serve as they get closer to their re-election the greater the pressure. This election year is not unique, when a situation arose for Brian to show the leadership abilities he’s spent nearly four years perfecting, he was in the view of many unable to deliver. In July, Brian Jessen said publicly he would no longer “kick the can” of water rate increases down the road.  The first meeting in October he did just that; he voted to delay action on raising water rates for 90 days (until after the election).<\/p>\n

Where are those skills that he was perfecting for the last four years of articulating clearly and concisely the problems faced by the community, collaboratively seeking viable solutions, negotiating to a common goal, navigating political minefields and delivering results under adverse conditions to the benefit of the community? <\/p>\n

There are many difficult and unpopular issues the 2020 Town Council administration will face.  Brian Jessen’s failure to perform under these conditions has many questioning the value of his experience, he has touted in many public forums. — The Editor<\/em><\/p>\n

Cindy Hohman is challenging the Incumbent for Brownsburg Town Council Ward 3 <\/p>\n

Cindy is an admitted newcomer to this level of public service. Many have suggested this is a detriment to serve those living in Ward 3. Since her announcement, she has regularly attended town council, board, and commission meetings. Undaunted, she has jumped in with both feet, performing research, asking thoughtful questions of this administration’s actions, fiscal policies and decisions.   She has tirelessly canvassed the many residents of Ward 3 to establish a personal connection; engaging in discussions to learn their issues and concerns.  Any miscues are admitted and used as a learning experience. She continues to devote herself to understand past council decisions in order to gain the background needed to genuinely serve the residents of Ward 3.<\/p>\n
