\n<\/strong>\u201cThis evening, we lost a 2.5 year deputy, Deputy Fred Fisler.  Our hearts broken for the Fisler family, our department family and for our community family.  I hope that everyone will come together and show honor to a true hero of our community.\u201d<\/em>  Hendricks County Sheriff Jack Sadler at an early morning press conference.<\/p>\n

On Monday April 15th at approximately 11:50 p.m. Deputy Fislar responded to a single motor vehicle crash near Plainfield near the 2600 block of North Avon Avenue<\/span><\/a> (formerly State Road 267), near East County Road 200 North.<\/p>\n

The Sheriff reported Fislar came into contact with down power lines after arriving at the scene.  A witness to the crash saw Fislar down and used his squad car radio to notify dispatch that an officer was down.<\/p>\n

Deputy Fislar was transported to Eskenazi Hospital in critical condition where he later succumbed to his injuries before 1 a.m. Tuesday morning. His body was transported to the Marion County Coroner’s Office under police escort. He was later moved to the Hendricks County Coroner’s Office under police escort.<\/p>\n

It is with deep sadness that we must inform our community of the passing of Deputy Fred Fislar. Last night.  We are working on gathering resources to support our employees as we grieve and work our way through this tragic loss. The Sheriff’s office noted in a press release.<\/p>\n

Deputy Fislar a Marine Corp veteran, a member of the 226th Basic Class of the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy, had served Hendricks County for 2.5 years he leaves behind his wife Madi and two young children ages 6 years and 6 months old.<\/p>\n

The Sheriff\u2019s office also reported the driver injured in the initial crash was taken to a local hospital in serious but stable condition. The cause of the crash is under investigation.<\/p>\n
