At a Glance:<\/strong>
\nThe Brownsburg Community School Board voted unanimously not to extend school superintendent Dr. Jim Snapp’s employment contract for an additional year.  As a result his contract will expire at the end of the 2025-2026 school year. The board failed to provide the public any context for their actions.

\n<\/strong>The story continues:<\/strong>
\nFollowing a specially convened school board executive session held at 5:00pm;  four school board members met publicly at 6:00pm and voted not to renew Brownsburg school corporation superintendent Dr. Jim Snapp’s employment contract.  The only information provided was BCSC Legal Counsel David Day recommendation “It is my recommendation that the board not agree to the extension to Dr. Snapp’s contract. And that the notice be given to Dr. Snapp as provided in this contract.”  Mike Wells moved the board adopt the recommendation which was seconded by Katie Dixon, followed by unanimous adoption by the four members in attendance. <\/p>\n

No justification or context was provided by any members of school board or by David Day their legal counsel. <\/p>\n

Dr. Snapp’s contract has a provision for an automatic one year renewal unless either party provides written notice not to continue the employment relationship by January 2nd of the year in which the agreement is due to expire.<\/p>\n

Unless further action is taken by the school board, superintendent Dr. Snapp’s current contract will expire at the end of the 2025 – 2026 school year. <\/p>\n

During the meeting members of the public asked the school board to provide additional information and context which lead to this meeting and upcoming vote. These questions went unanswered. <\/p>\n

Immediately at the conclusion of the meeting members of the public again asked for an explanation of the evening’s events.  Those questions were ignored by all members of the school board.<\/p>\n

Once the meeting was adjourned an audience member asked “Does the board intend to have Dr. Snapp finish his contract until the end of the school year of 2026?” Jessica Heffernan School Board president responded “The board has made no decisions yet”.<\/p>\n

This publication strongly condemns the lack of public transparency by the members of the Brownsburg Community School Corporation Board.  <\/p>\n

We suggest the public not speculate or jump to conclusions regarding the board actions. Rather we suggest people attend the next school board meeting and demand answers and context into the school board’s actions.<\/p>\n

\nMeetings will begin at 6:30 p.m (unless otherwise noted). <\/p>\n

Meetings are held at the F.L. O’Neal Administration Office, 310 Stadium Drive
\nexcept where indicated below. The public is always welcome.<\/p>\n
