(August 24, 2018) \u2013 During its annual August meeting, the Little League\u00ae International Board of Directors approved an offer to relocate its Central Region Headquarters to Whitestown, Indiana, pending the completion of a formal agreement.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAfter a thorough evaluation of local communities within the Central Region, the Little League International Board of Directors are pleased that this opportunity involving Whitestown was presented to us and we are looking forward to seeing what the community has to offer,\u201d said Hugh E. Tanner, Little League International Board of Directors Chairman. \u201cThis opportunity takes us one step closer to finding a home for our Central Region Headquarters and we are excited to see how the Whitestown community will be able to support Little Leaguers throughout the region.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Little League International will work with local Whitestown officials and community members throughout the process. At this time, there are no additional details regarding the selection process or any future plans. Little League International will continue to provide information as it becomes available.<\/p>\n<p>Established in 1989, the Central Region Headquarters is one of five Little League regional offices located in the United States and serves as the administrative center for Little League Baseball and Softball activities in Kansas, Kentucky, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, South Dakota, and Wisconsin.<\/p>\n<p>Collectively, the Central Region Headquarters, with the guidance and assistance provided by 89 volunteer District Administrators, coordinates operations for approximately 26,000 teams and 375,000 players participating in all levels of Little League Baseball and Softball.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>About Little League\u00ae<\/p>\n<p>Founded in 1939, Little League\u00ae Baseball and Softball is the world\u2019s largest organized youth sports program, with nearly 2.4 million players and one million adult volunteers in every U.S. state and more than 80 other countries.
